Overview

This article contains terminology and abbreviations that are widely used with AppManager.

Term Definition
Account

In the context of AppManager, Account is a synonym of an Organization. MSP Organization is essentially the Main Account of the MSP.

Appliance

A pre-configured, integrated hardware or software system specifically designed to perform dedicated network security or communication functions.

In the context of AppManager, it is a KerioControl or KerioConnect instance.

Iframe An HTML document embedded inside another HTML document on a website.
Main Account The account created when registering the MSP Organization. Users of the Main Account can view and manage all other accounts in this MSP Organization.
Metrics Measurements or data points that are used to track and assess the status of specific processes.
Organization There are MSP and SMB Organizations, with MSP Organizations managing multiple accounts of their customers. For more information, refer to What is the Difference between MSP and SMB Organizations?
Pass-through Proxy A server that forwards client requests to another server without modifying the request or response.
Abbreviations
DB Database.
DNS Domain Name System - translates domain names into the numerical IP addresses, while Reverse DNS translates IP addresses into domain names.
FQDN Fully Qualified Domain Name: An FQDN is the most complete domain name that identifies a host or server.

The format is: [hostname].[domain].[tld].

IDP Identity Provider. A system that creates, maintains, and manages identity information for principals and provides authentication services to relying applications within a federation or distributed network.
JSON JavaScript Object Notation - a lightweight data-interchange format that is easy for humans to read and write and easy for machines to parse and generate.
JWT JSON Web Token, an open standard used to share security information between two parties — a client and a server.
MSP Managed Service Provider. A company that remotely manages a customer's IT infrastructure and/or end-user systems, typically on a proactive basis and under a subscription model.
SMB Small and Medium-sized Business. Refers to businesses with limited revenue and number of employees, which are typically the target customers for MSPs.
SSO Single Sign-On. An authentication process that allows a user to access multiple applications with one set of login credentials.
TCP Transmission Control Protocol.
UDP User Datagram Protocol.
VM Virtual Machine. An emulation of a computer system that provides the functionality of a physical computer.
WMI Windows Management Instrumentation.
